As a puppy Ruby was hyperactive. I never realized how much until I got Java 🙂 He could run around for hours and not settle down.
These days Ruby is very sweet and gentle-natured, but at the same time always ready for action, whether that is chasing an unsuspecting cat or playing agility. He loves to train with both food and toys, but he is most happy if I reward him with a ball or a frisbee, preferrably thrown far, far away. He is a tireless worker and will fetch frisbees for much longer than is good for him.
Here are Ruby and Fly (Ruby’s litter sister) playing frisbee. In the beginning of video Fly is learning to catch frisbees, then Ruby shows her how it’s done 🙂
When we play the weather doesn’t matter – summer heat, winter chill or autumn pours don’t slow him down. Luckily he loves to swim so it’s easy to cool him down in the summer.
But what he loves the most of all is agility. Of course he enjoys the toy I throw at the end of the run, but I often get an impression that he would rather run the course again than play. Here’s how we started in agility:
